We're in Amsterdam to buy a car to start our trip. It's cold and wet but otherwise we're having a good time. Here are some photos from the first week.
The canals are just one of the things that make Amsterdam so unique.
There's also the drugs and the sex, but all with safety first.
Twice we went to Boom Chicago to see some improv comedy, the second time with our friend Joe who is studying in Utrecht.
We bought a museum card which gives free entry to most museums in the Netherlands for 12 months. And while we like learning, we also like saving. So more museums equals more savings. In the first week we've been to the Van Gogh Museum, the Rikjsmuseum (pictured below) and the Anne Frank House.
Thanks to Marion and Jacques, Yasmin's aunt and uncle, we are staying in a small apartment near the Portuguese synagogue. This is the synagogue not the apartment.
Since Jacques is the president he showed us their library, the oldest Jewish library in the world with 800 year old books.
The final museum of the week was Rembrandt's house where we learned to make etchings and paint.
