Marrakech

Our first planned stop in Morocco was the hectic and vibrant city of Marrakech. The heart of the city is its main square, the Jemaa el-Fnaa.

During the day, the square is filled with orange juice salesmen, snake charmers, belly dancers, tourists, monkeys, henna tattooists, acrobats and more. At night, out come the musicians, the story tellers, the unwinnable parlour games and countless food stalls.

Here's Josh when he realised the snake was dead

And here's Yaz eating a Moroccan feast.

And here's Josh when he tasted the sweetest orange juice that 50c can buy.

The city is also home to Morocco's largest market, or souk.

While at times the shopkeepers got a bit tiring, they were mostly very friendly and were happy to show us around. This guy showed us traditional Berber medicines, spices and remedies. And some less traditional products.

We also visited some of the city's historical sites, including the Palais el-Badi...

the Palais de la Bahia....

and the Jardin Majorelle.

One of the most unique things about the city is that during the day you can walk around in a t-shirt but still have a view of the snow capped Atlas Mountains in the distance.
