Slow Boats and Fast Cars

We spent a relaxing couple of days by Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda. On our first day we visited the beautiful town of Sirmione, which lies on a thin peninsula stretching into the lake.

The Scaliger Castle built in the 13th century.

The view of the town. Most of these buildings are gelaterias.

At the northern tip of the peninsula is the Grotto of Catullus, the ruins of a Roman villa.

Also, in case you missed our last entry, we are with Josh's parents Beverly and Jeff.

The next day we took a paddle boat from Salò to Garda.

Salò is a beautiful town which between 1943 and 1945 was the capital of Mussolini’s Italian Social Republic.

On Sunday we went to the Monza Grand Prix, to see Lewis Hamilton win from pole position. The locals of course were cheering on Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari who was good, but the drive of the day was from Sergio Perez in the Sauber who finished 2nd after starting from 12th.

We were able to get a good photo of the formula 2 race in the morning...

...but unfortunately formula 1 is too fast for photography. We think this is Felipe Massa.

How the locals watch the race.
